Rowe Dealership serves barbecue to Honor Flight Maine vets and community in Westbrook

"We couldn't be any happier to honor our local heroes in any way we can," Westbrook dealership General Manager and Veteran Mark Camp explains.

WESTBROOK/AUBURN (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Rowe car dealerships honored Maine's veterans Saturday with a complimentary barbeque and meet-and-greet in partnership with Honor Flight Maine.

Rowe Ford, a third generation, family-owned, local car dealer ,created the complimentary barbecue to make conversation for vets and Mainers and to shine a light on what Honor Flight Maine is about.

Honor Flight Maine is a non-profit organization that honors Americas Veterans and brings Veterans to memorials in their honor in Washington DC multiple times a year.

Earl Morse, the founder of Honor Flight Maine, was at the Westbrook location. He says free lunch is a great way to start a conversation with a veteran who has been on an Honor Flight trip before.

"It just doesn't get any better than sitting down and talking with them and recalling their trip and what the highlights of their trip were. And it makes us feel really good," said Morse.

"We just thought this would be a nice thing to do -- to invite people in, very low-key, just really to come in have a hot dog, hamburger, you know, visit," said Wallace Camp, Jr.

“We couldn’t be happier to honor our local heroes in any way we can," said Mark Camp, the Westbrook dealerships General Manager, and a veteran himself. “Over the years, Rowe has always been active in the local communities, but in 2018 both the Westbrook and Auburn dealerships plan to be even more active the local communities."

Rowe is a big supporter of Honor Flight, and was a co-sponsor of the NEWS CENTER Maine telethon last November that will help 170 veterans to our nation's captiol.
