With election season over, Mainers breathe sigh of relief

Despite having different views on the candidates, Mainers say they can agree on one thing: they're glad it's over.

(NEWS CENTER Maine) -- The weeks leading up to the midterm elections were full of political ads, campaign signs and robocalls; Mainers say they are glad it's over.

We asked you to tell us what you were most looking forward to now that election season is behind us in three words or less.

Many said 'No more signs' and 'no more ads'. Others say 'bring on Thanksgiving'.

"People coming together," Betty Rose of Portland said. "I really feel like things are changing and like we are actually going to get stuff done."

"The New Year," Jeron Wayne of Portland said. "Warmer weather and a fresh start."

Those who were ready to see the negative campaign ads gone say they didn't like them because it felt like everyone hated each other.

"I don't like that," Maria Bedeilla of Portland said. "Hopefully we can have some peace now and live in a safe country."
