'Domestic partner' surrenders in ‘domestic violence’ shooting

Portland Police say they have made an arrest in the death of a Portland mother of two. The suspect turned himself in to police Saturday morning.

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Anthony Leng surrendered to Portland Police Saturday morning at the station on Middle Street, nearly a week after the shooting death of his 'domestic partner' 36-year-old Sokha Khuon. Leng has been charged with Khuon's murder.

Khuon was found dead inside her home at 46 Dorothy Street last Sunday after police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired.

Portland Police Asst. Chief Vern Malloch called the shooting 'domestic violence' related. An autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Khuon died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled her death a homocide.

Asst. Chief Malloch says he believes Leng is the biological father of Sokha Khuon's two children, ages 10 and 15, who were present in the home at the time of the alleged murder. Both children were found outside the home unharmed when police arrived on the scene.

Asst. Chief Malloch says Leng's whereabouts were known to police all week, however, Leng came and turned himself on Saturday morning.

Leng, 40, was arrested without incident.

Leng is expected to appear in court on Tuesday in Portland district court.

Police urge anyone who may be experiencing domestic violence to reach out to them or Family Crisis Services at 1-800-537-6066.
