The fall is ablaze and Brian Kevin, Editor in Chief, of Down East Magazine talks about the new issue

Maine is known as Vacationland, a majority of people make this trip during the summer months. For a select few, and those that live here, the secrets of Vacationland and the reasons for gratitude often express in the fall. Editor in Chief of Down East magazine Brian Kevin, joined us to talk autumnal joy and the new issue of the magazine.

The streets are less crowded and the hustle & bustle has died a bit during the autumn months, but that isn't to say that tourists are gone. In fact, the autumn season has its own name of folk that come to enjoy Maine. The 'leaf peepers' as restaurant owners sometimes refer, to those that travel into Maine in the fall. They come to feel the crisp air, and see the colors bursting along winding country roads. Down East magazine has the fall issue on shelves now and in it is a wonderful journey through York in the fall. Photographed by Douglas Merriam, it features the winding roads to nowhere, or to a dream you once had, and the unusual adventures you may find along your way.

Further into the issue a story on longtime photographer Nina Fuller and her second career raising sheep. She still hasn't put the camera down and you can see her portrait style come out. The sheep are comfortable around her lens, just the way she made young and old people feel during her many years as a photographer. The imagery is playful and inviting, it almost makes you want to be a sheep farmer or a photographer, and Nina Fuller is now both.

The issue has many wonderful stories inside it. From scythes, to sacred & profane. And Editor in Chief Brian Kevin can chat at length about them all.
