Schooner Heritage wins the 42nd annual Great Schooner Race

Captains Doug and Linda Lee earn the Cutty Sark Trophy and the coveted "East My Wake" pennant to be flown from the highest yardarm

ROCKLAND (NEWS CENTER Maine) -- Captains Doug and Linda Lee captained Heritage to victory in this year's Great Schooner Race. The race is designed to showcase Maine's Windjammer Fleet.

"We go to win it," said Kip Files the Captain of the Victory Chimes. "But we know it's going to be a parade at the end."

The race finishes at Rockland Breakwater and looks like a parade of sail, although the order is determined by who has the best day in the handicapped race.

The Maine Windjammer Fleet is made up of 12 large sailing vessels.

Class winners included the Stephen Taber and American Eagle as well as Heritage.

The Maine Windjammer Fleet will hold a parade of sail this Friday at Rockland Harbor. Best viewing can be done at the Breakwater between 2-4 p.m.
